Kate Moore, Project Leader
Born in Scotland, on the outskirts of Glasgow, I moved to London in 1987. Since the mid 90s I've been involved in supporting people facing homelessness. I started as a volunteer in a local day centre for homeless at the time of the '90s rough sleeping crisis. I graduated to Resettlement and Advocacy in 1996. I moved on to a Social Exclusion Unit job based at the Salvation Army London Central Division, and have worked across London in hostels with young refugees, and as a floating support caseworker for people coming out of rehab.
I have varied experience in day centres and night shelters, and in 2020 joined Destiny House International as a Community Pastor., just in time for a lockdown. Fortunately we obtained funding from the LCRF to run a welfare clinic through the era of Covid and during that time I completed pastoral training with AOG and hold ministerial status.
Recently I was invited to coordinate the Brent Winter Night Shelter based at Crisis Skylight in Harlesden. This was a rewarding experience working with many partners in the borough who provide essential and expert services to people in urgent housing need. Previously for three years I coordinated a weekly venue for the rolling shelter pioneered by Housing Justice and the Multi Faith Forum.
